There are still some 4000 hard copies of various publications available for any that desire them, in the old-style mimeograph format. Publications which we have stock are marked "available", those that we have only a master copy but no stock available are marked "no stock" and those which we do not even have a master copy are marked "missing". Between 1960 and 1982 (or later ?), The KATUNOB Newsletter on Meso-American Anthropolgy was published, irregularly.

MESOAMERICA is one of the most fascinating anthropological areas of the world, and has its fair share of professional researchers and enthusiasts. But somehow I have the feeling that there could be a greater coordination among all of the research projects being undertaken in Mesoamerica. And, that probably all parties concerned would be happier if perhaps there was a better interchange of knowledge and ideas.

Therefore it has been proposed that a new Newsletter-Bulletin be initiated to permit an up-to-date exchange of information on matters pertaining solely to Mesoamerica. Professional researchers could be kept better informed as to what their colleagues are doing, thereby possibly eliminate duplication of some projects, and allow for closet cooperation. In many cases it is just simply a matter of interest to know what is going on, in Mexico, Guatemala, etc. – anthropologically speaking, that is.

So KATUNOB is officially in operation – to serve as a communication media for keeping tract of what is going on in Mesoamerican – archaeologically, ethnologically linguistically, physical anthropologically. art’chaeologically, etc.  It will attempt to be a collecting organ for such information, IF everyone will cooperate by sending in a steady flow of information.

It is proposed that the Newsletter-Bulletin be issued every 2-3 months (bi-monthly or quarterly) as sufficient material accumulates. These will then be distributed to all those who have indicated an interest in subscribing and thereby participating. Thus, Like the American Anthropological Association's Bulletin, we can keep up on what is going on though in this case, specifically in Mesoamerica.
